Contains the following types of materials: photographs. Contains photographs of the following military unit: 11th United States (U.S.) Cavalry. General description of the collection: The Eben Swift photograph collection includes a folder with a few photos of Eben Swift, Sr., from childhood, about 1857 to his being a major general about 1919; there are nine numbered photos in this folder. A second folder has a few photos, which cover ceremonial activities from just after World War I to 1927. The remainder of the collection is three medium sized albums which cover the life of Lieutenant Eben Swift, Jr., his family and friends in the Philippines in 1912 and 1913. During this time he served with the 11th U.S. Cavalry. The whole spectrum of life in the Army in the Philippines at that time is well illustrated. There are even some excellent images of polo playing and players, as well as golfing and tennis by soldiers and dependents. The typical views of Filipino natives and officials are not left out.
